Nutrients Up-cycling in Herefordshire to Clean Up the Wye
This project endeavours to establish a robust Manure Upcycling System designed to minimise the environmental impact of intensive poultry farming
LOHAS Fertiliser utilises cutting-edge biotechnology to transform bio-based materials into high-quality organic-based fertilisers right here in the UK. Our fertilisers, rich in organic matter, are crafted through a sustainable process that not only saves energy but also reduces carbon emissions, methane, ammonia, and nitrous dioxide from untreated bio-based materials, aligning with the Net Zero target. Our organic-based soil nutrients offer a sustainable alternative to synthetic fertilisers, helping to decrease reliance on them and further lowering ammonia and greenhouse gas emissions during fertiliser application.
Big picture-the challenge of untreated bio-based materials, including animal by-product, food waste, green waste, organic by-product from the zoom down to UK River Wye - the unfavourable condition. Our project at Herefordshire to up-cycle and manage excess nitrogen and phosphate nutrient to clean up the River Wye
a method with low carbon footprint, reduce ammonia emission, reduce phosphate leached into the watercourse, mitigate the river eutrophication, clean up the Wye, a method to safely circulate the nutrients and export out of the region to fertilise the soil in the Eastern England with valuable upcycled nutrients and organic matter.
Our journey commenced with a bold vision: to leverage cutting-edge biotechnology to transform agricultural by-products into premium organic fertilisers for the horticulture and viticulture sectors in the UK. By embracing this vision, we not only achieve organic nutrient circularity but also contribute to the building of a sustainable circular economy.
At the core of our mission is the application of revolutionary biotechnology. Through rigorous research and development, we harness the power of nature to extract bio-based nutrients and transform them into organic fertilisers of unparalleled quality. This process not only minimises waste but also reduces the environmental footprint associated with traditional farming practices.
Our commitment extends beyond mere product development. We aspire to mitigate climate change and promote sustainable farming practices that benefit both the environment and human health. By embracing innovation and sustainability, we aim to propel agriculture towards a brighter, more sustainable future for all.
LOHAS revolutionises organic resources into high-quality, organic fertilisers within the UK. This alternative fertiliser reduces reliance on synthetic alternatives, fostering sustainable agriculture and enhancing soil resilience against climate change impacts.
We offer a wide range of products from high Nitrogen organic nutrient to high P & K organic nutrient.
LOHAS fertilise improved nutrient delivery (NPK and trace elements) achieves better crop yields and increased protein quality, using reduced nutrient application rates.
By applying the World’s revolutionary biotechnology, LOHAS not only strategically addresses environmental challenges associated with various bio-based materials, but also produces low carbon fertilisers for the UK growers. Committed to impactful, urgent, and optimistic change, we actively participate in the global movement for positive environmental impact to mitigate climate change.
With over half a century of research and development, Dr. Young's Agri-biotech invention emerged in 2007. Expanding his microbial strains 11 years later, an enzyme plant has been established, with a capacity of processing over 1 million tons of organic materials yearly. Since 2018, LOHAS has joined the mission, engaging in the innovation, further research and urgent actions to address significant environmental challenges associated with bio-based materials, such as food waste and organic agricultural waste streams.
Over half a century of journey to the Revolutionary Agri-biotechnology
In the UK, LOHAS has established its first manufacturing site at the border of Wales and England in 2021. The company has created 2 streams of high quality organically derived fertiliser for the UK growers, and it continues its research and innovation to scale to support sustainable farming and biomanufacturing by making efficient and effective use of domestically produced resources, such as poultry manure, food waste and AD digestate.
Our biotechnology addresses significant environmental challenges, transforming poultry manure into high-value, organic-based fertiliser. Our first UK organic-based fertiliser / Soil Improver manufacturing site at the border of England and Wales has been approved by the Animal and Plant Health Agency to produce OF/SI from poultry manure.
LOHAS is dedicated to setting up more manufacturing sites of this kind to scale up the nutrients up-cycling and delivering better value fertiliser products to serve UK agricultural and horticultural sectors.
We envisage an era of regeneration through swift action. Accelerating the roll out of our technology can enhance global air, water, and soil quality. Inspired by the Earthshot Prize – embracing urgency with optimism, we invite everyone to join us in empowering sustainable practices for a hopeful future.
LOHAS has successfully created 2 streams of Organically Derived Fertilisers: Nitrogen fertiliser and P&K fertiliser. The applied enzyme-based manufacturing process has totally transformed the up-cycled nutrients, providing pathogen-free, quick-release but long-lasting nutrients with safe and stable organic matter. This offer of sustainable fertiliser targets Nutrients Usage Efficiency, Carbon emission reduction, Soil improvement and resilience, to healthier and more productive crops, for the nation’s food safety and security.
