About Us

Our story

The story of LOHAS’ NutriCycleX began with a simple yet urgent observation: pervasive malodour affecting rural communities from fertiliser application linked with the visible decline of the River Wye due to nutrient runoff. The founders of LOHAS Fertiliser saw untreated organic waste, like poultry manure, harming ecosystems and the environment whilst missing opportunities to improve soil and capture carbon.

Inspired for change, we turned to Academician Young’s groundbreaking enzyme technology. After years of trials, we succeeded in developing a transformative process that converts agricultural manure wastes into fertiliser within hours. This technology has the potential to up-cycle millions of Tonnes of organic waste, effectively addressing nutrient runoff.

LOHAS’ NutriCycleX emerged from this vision. The urgency is real and it is our mission to transform problematic manure waste into a driver for sustainable agriculture, ecological health and climate stability. We aim to scale this innovative solution to transform agriculture economically and environmentally whilst contributing to a waste-free, net-zero future.

Dr. Chiu-Chung Young – Enzyme Technology Inventor

Dr. Chiu-Chung Young is a globally recognised expert in soil science and environmental biotechnology and the visionary behind the enzyme technology powering LOHAS’ NutriCycleX solution.

With a Ph.D. in Agronomy and Soil Science from the University of Hawaii and decades of pioneering research, Dr. Young has developed a groundbreaking method to transform organic waste into fertiliser within hours.

Collaborating with Dr. Young, NutriCycleX solution address pressing environmental issues like nutrient runoff , river pollution, soil deterioration and climate change while advancing sustainable farming practices.

By applying the World’s revolutionary biotechnology, LOHAS not only strategically addresses environmental challenges associated with various bio-based materials, but also produces low carbon fertilisers for the UK growers. Committed to impactful, urgent, and optimistic change, we actively participate in the global movement for positive environmental impact to mitigate climate change.

Vision

Our journey commenced with a bold vision: to leverage cutting-edge biotechnology to transform agricultural by-products into premium organic fertilisers for the horticulture and viticulture sectors in the UK. By embracing this vision, we not only achieve organic nutrient circularity but also contribute to the building of a sustainable circular economy.

Mission

At the core of our mission is the application of revolutionary biotechnology. Through rigorous research and development, we harness the power of nature to extract bio-based nutrients and transform them into organic fertilisers of unparalleled quality. This process not only minimises waste but also reduces the environmental footprint associated with traditional farming practices.

Our Values

Reduce, reuse, recycle

These 3 R’s form our core values. We are dedicated to practice these as a company sensitive to environmental issues and contributing to better sustainable living. Just like what’s said in ‘LOHAS” Life of Health and Sustainability.

Our achievement

65 years experience in Chemical produce
40 years experience in Organic Fertilisers
30 years experience in recycling industry

Our commitment extends beyond mere product development. We aspire to mitigate climate change and promote sustainable farming practices that benefit both the environment and human health. By embracing innovation and sustainability, we aim to propel agriculture towards a brighter, more sustainable future for all.

Join us on this journey as we pioneer new horizons in modern farming, one sustainable solution at a time. Together, let’s cultivate a greener, more resilient future for generations to come.

Our Vision

Our agricultural biotechnology addresses significant environmental challenges, transforming poultry manure into high-value, organic-based fertiliser. Tested at our demonstration site, endorsed by APHA, it's categorised as a safe and secure method for fertiliser production.

Securing a patent marked a pivotal achievement, yet our vision goes further. We aim to deploy this revolutionary innovation at a scale that reshapes agriculture.

We envisage an era of regeneration through swift action. Accelerating the roll out of our technology can enhance global air, water, and soil quality. Inspired by the Earthshot Prize - embracing urgency with optimism, we invite everyone to join us in empowering sustainable practices for a hopeful future.

Our history

With over half a century of research and development, Dr. Young's Agri-biotech invention emerged in 2007. Expanding his microbial strains 11 years later, an enzyme plant has been established, with a capacity of processing over 1 million tons of organic materials yearly. Since 2018, LOHAS has joined the mission, engaging in the innovation, further research and urgent actions to address significant environmental challenges associated with bio-based materials, such as food waste and organic agricultural waste streams. In the UK, LOHAS has established its first manufacturing site at the border of Wales and England in 2021. The company has created 2 streams of high quality organically derived fertiliser for the UK growers, and it continues its research and innovation to scale to support sustainable farming and biomanufacturing by making efficient use of domestically produced resources, such as poultry manure, food waste and AD digestate.
