Brew time! Make a cup of tea… for your plants!

If you’re someone who talks to your plants, gives them names and worries about leaving them when you go on holiday (we see you!), you’ll love what we’ve been brewing up at Lohas Fertiliser.

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our brand new “tea for plants” – a rich, organic infusion that gives your green friends all the nutrients they need, naturally. Think of it as a special treat for your well-loved houseplants, herbs and garden favourites. Because plants deserve a pamper too!

We’ll be officially launching this exciting new product at the RHS Peat-Free Conference at RHS Garden Wisley on November 25th, where growers, horticultural specialists and eco-conscious gardeners from across the country will come together to explore the future of sustainable growing. And what better setting to introduce something so wholesome and planet-friendly?

So, what exactly is plant tea?

It’s Lohas Fertiliser’s innovative, loose-leaf organic fertiliser – a water-soluble version of our award-winning NutriCycle X. You simply steep it in water, just like a teabag, then feed your plants with the nutrient-rich “tea” that results. It’s a simple, gentle way to give your plants the vitamins and minerals they need for stronger growth, deeper roots and more vibrant foliage. Think of it as a spa treatment for soil.

But here’s where it gets really clever – it’s not just a treat for your plants; it’s a gift to the planet too.

Our “tea for plants” is made using the same patented enzyme-based fermentation technology that underpins all of our Lohas products. This breakthrough process converts organic waste – like poultry manure – into a high-quality, carbon-negative fertiliser in as little as three hours. There’s no odour, no harmful residues, and zero pathogens, making it safe to use indoors or outdoors, from your kitchen herb pots to your greenhouse tomatoes.

This unique process not only removes waste from the agricultural supply chain but also prevents harmful emissions like ammonia and methane that are usually released during traditional composting or manure handling. The result? A fertiliser that doesn’t just avoid environmental harm – it actively helps combat climate change by locking carbon back into the soil and supporting long-term soil health.

Every cup of our plant tea contributes to:
Improved soil structure: Encourages microbial activity, creating healthier, living soil.
Reduced nutrient runoff: Nutrients are released slowly and efficiently, reducing pollution in rivers and waterways.
Stronger, more resilient plants: A steady, natural nutrient supply promotes root development, leaf health and flowering.
Cleaner, circular farming: We take waste that would otherwise emit greenhouse gases and turn it into something valuable and life-giving.

At Lohas Fertiliser, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. Based at our West Farm site in Oswestry, Shropshire, we’re proud to produce carbon-negative organic fertilisers that close the loop between agriculture and the environment. We believe that feeding your plants shouldn’t cost the Earth – and with our new plant tea, it doesn’t have to.

We also know that gardeners care deeply about what goes into their soil. That’s why our products are made without synthetic chemicals, artificial additives or peat. They’re 100% organic, safe for wildlife and pollinators and approved for sustainable use by the UK’s regulatory bodies.

We’ve spent years testing and perfecting our formula through Innovate UK and DEFRA-funded projects, and the results speak for themselves – healthier soils, happier plants and measurable reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.

As co-founder Lian Lin puts it, “Our new plant tea combines the best of both worlds – scientific innovation and the joy of growing. It’s about reconnecting people to the soil and making sustainability part of everyday gardening.”

So next time you pop the kettle on, make one for you… and one for your plants. They might not say thank you, but they’ll show it – in glossy leaves, bright blooms and thriving roots.
